Teaching Process -- Mocha

Teaching process:
1.      Introductory Activity:
The introductory activity is that students need to be a reporter in order to collect some information about nuclear disaster happening in Japan. Then teacher should ask the students to post their reports on the teachers’ blogger: (http://mochaswonderland.blogspot.com/)
In this process, teacher integrate the news into class can make the students become more interest in the nuclear energy then they can form their first impressions about nuclear energy by reaching some news about Japan nuclear disaster.

2.      Teaching Section One:
At the beginning of the class, teacher should ask the four group students to sign in their blogs on the blogger website.
In this section, teacher needs to give the students a video flip and a brief lesson about how nuclear happens. (Video resource and lesson plan example: )
In this class, students will receive a task, that is, they need to take a video with their teammates with any safe material.
Teacher will guide them to create now post on each group’s blogger and comment each group’s video.
In this process, teacher should state the process of how nuclear reaction happens and nuclear plant with video and power point. This is a basic section in this class, which combine physics, reading skills and environment issues subjects. In addition, teacher will give the first task to the students – making a 3-5 minutes video with creatively so that it can be used to present how nuclear energy works. In this video, students can use any safe material and teamwork creativity. In addition, students need to post their video on YouTube and post it on their bloggers then each group should have feedback with each other. Students in this section can not only learn about the important information about nuclear energy buy also can learn about how to cooperate with each other.

3.      Teaching Section Two:
In this section, teacher need to make the classroom setup before class, computers and internet are necessary in this class so that students can use all the digital equipment to do some research.
In this class, teacher need to organize a debate, which is about “Is nuclear energy benefit for human or not?” There are two “Aff teams” and two “Neg teams” in this class. Teacher should give them some direction about the rules of the debate (http://www.middleschooldebate.com/documents/MSPDPFormat_001.pdf)
and how the judge evaluate the debate
Teacher should direct the students to find the information and make them be aware of their opinions and positions. After the debate, students will again more understanding of the positive and the negative effects of nuclear energy.
There are some useful information of the debate and the effects of the nuclear energy. 
In this process, teacher use debate in order to make the students become more curious with the benefits and the damages of nuclear energy. Students can not only do some research so that they can search more information that can stand for their position and view but also they can know more about other side of the information that is opposite with their position and view. Debating is a good way for students to improve their skills in searching information, cooperating with their teammates for a project, forming the logic thought of their position.

4.      Teaching Section Three:
In this section, teacher needs to direct students work cooperatively to implement an action plan about how to use nuclear energy properly.
In this class, teacher should know how to create the students’ creativities in order to come up with more suggestive options.
There is an action temple from the attachment. Students need to follow the instructions in the form in order to need all the requirements of this class.
In this process, students will use all the information they had to make an action plan. Analyzing the useful information and data and then making the effective proposals can help students learn about how to deal with the information and then translate the useful information into their action plan. In this section, students will totally handle how to work with their teammates and finish their teamwork in the effective way.  

5.      Ending Activity:
At the end of this class, teacher will ask the students to write down their reactions papers for this class. There are some useful websites and attachments below:
In this process, teacher will focus on student’s individual task. Above this assignment, students have some teamwork and gain a lot in those activities. At the end of the class, a personal reaction paper is essential for student to recognize what they did in the class and what they gained in the learning process. It can help them to have the self- reflection and evaluate the whole learning process.
